Geitjesbos - Planting day 29 January
Fancy helping to plant the Geitjesbos, our little goats' wood, and so contributing to more woodland in our region? Then dig out your wellies and come to our planting day on Sunday 29 January 2023 between 10:00 and 15:00.
During the planting day we will plant 800 native saplings to transform the old poplar wood into an ecologically valuable and biodiverse wood.
We start at 10:00 and treat the planters to soup, hot dogs and something to drink around midday.
To get a rough idea of how many planters to expect, we ask you to send an email to info@2cv-co.be stating your name and the number of people.
PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Location:
Our wood can be reached from the Noordlaan in Munkzwalm. At house number 45 there is a path leading to our wood.
Parking:
There are a number of parking spaces at the statue of the Sower (De Zaaier) on the Noordlaan in Munkzwalm. You can also park on the Noordlaan itself in the designated bays.
Planting:
The saplings are planted in groups by species. The planting holes are dug in advance. Planting itself means placing a sapling in the hole and filling it in with the soil from the planting hole
What to bring:
A shovel, spade or rake to fill in the planting holes
Wellies
The ground on the site to be planted is very wet, so wellies are essential
Time
We start on Sunday 29 January at 10:00 (the planting day was first planned for 18 December but was postponed by a month because of the weather) and finish when all 800 saplings have been planted. How long that takes depends on the turnout, but we hope to be done by around 15:00.
