Hotondberg

Hotondberg

Climb 5.0 km from 2CV & CO

At 150 metres the highest summit of the Flemish Ardennes. Your 2CV climbs up obediently, you enjoy the view.

The Hotondberg, also called the Hoogberg, is an outlier hill on the border of Ronse and Zulzeke, in the south of East Flanders. At 150 metres it is the highest hill in the Flemish part of the Flemish Ardennes and the highest point of the whole province. For the number lovers: the summit rises 108 metres above its surroundings, and the nearest higher point is 8.74 kilometres away. Your 2CV climbs it calmly in second gear.

The hill is home to the Hotond-Scherpenberg nature reserve. On the summit stands the Hotondmolen, of which only the stone tower remains. Today it serves as a lookout tower at the sports hotel and grill 'Hotond', and on a clear day you can see far across the hills. To the west lies the Kluisberg, to the east the Kruisberg: three summits in a row, and your little goat has all three on the programme.

A stop on the Hotondberg is the reward after the climb: the view, a drink and the wind in your hair with the roof open.
