Kluisbos

Nature 4.7 km from 2CV & CO

Three hundred hectares of woodland on the language border, right next to our base in Kluisbergen. Park your little goat and walk into the silence for a while.

The Kluisbos lies a stone's throw from our base in Kluisbergen and is one of the largest woods in the Flemish Ardennes. The nature reserve covers around 300 hectares on both sides of the language border. The Flemish part, some 200 hectares, lies in the municipality of Kluisbergen, in the villages of Ruien and Kwaremont. The Walloon part, the Bois de l'Enclus of about 100 hectares, belongs to Russeignies, Orroir and Amougies in the Pays des Collines.

The wood covers the flanks of the Kluisberg, and the roads around it are a treat for a 2CV: winding lanes, the shade of the trees and now and then a glimpse of the valley. The Kluisbos is freely accessible on the footpaths that run through it. Park your little goat at the edge, step out for a moment and listen: apart from the ticking of a cooling engine, all you hear here are birds.
