Tour of Flanders Centre
Oudenaarde's cycling museum: experience the Tour of Flanders from cobbles to champions, with a brasserie to relive the race afterwards.
Anyone puttering through the Flemish Ardennes in a 2CV rides the same cobbles and climbs as the heroes of the Tour of Flanders. In Oudenaarde you can dive right into that story at the Tour of Flanders Centre (Centrum Ronde van Vlaanderen, CRVV), the cycling museum and visitor centre opened by the province of East Flanders on 25 February 2003.
It is not a museum for shuffling quietly past display cases. You watch and listen to a rich archive of old radio and television reports, climb onto the "cobble bike" or the "climb bike" yourself, and take on Peter Van Petegem up the Oude Kwaremont. Beyond "Vlaanderens Mooiste", the Tour of Flanders, cycling in general gets its share of attention too. The signposted Tour of Flanders cycling route starts at the centre, for anyone who still fancies two wheels after the 2CV.
Round things off in the CRVV brasserie, and the museum shop has a souvenir for the cycling fan back home. A stop that fits perfectly into a day in the Flemish Ardennes with our little goat.
